    Polson School District is looking for Adult Education instructors. Classes will run for 8 weeks beginning January 29th to March 23rd. Classes do not have to run the full 8 week session. If you are interested in teaching a class please contact Jay Sampson at jsampson@polson.k12.mt.us or 406-883-6351 ext. 202. All classes must be arranged and confirmed by January 9th.
     


    Request Form/Information for Teaching an Adult Education Class

     

    As an Adult Education Instructor, you determine the content and setup of your class. All classes must be taught at a Polson School District building. You can offer a one-time class, a full series of eight weeks, or anything in between.  Instructors will be compensated $25/hour plus a $40.00 set up fee for a full 8-week class or prorated at $5.00 per week for shorter classes. A typical fee charged in the past has been around $20.00 for the entire session, however you set the cost and may also charge a supply fee for materials. There must be a minimum of 5 students at the first class or it will be canceled.

    CLASS TITLE:  name of class you will be teaching

    Instructor:  Your name

    Instructor: Your email address that participants can use to contact you. This will appear in the newspaper.

    Instructor phone:  Your phone number.  This will not appear in the newspaper unless you request.

    Fee:  Basic fee plus additional fee if extra materials are necessary for the class you are teaching

    Class Size Limit:

    Dates:  Days of the week you will hold the class and start and finish date of the course you are teaching

    Time:  exact time interval of the day the class will be in session

    Location: Where the class will be held - Building and Room number (this information subject to the approval of Mr. Sampson)

    Listed below are the upcoming classes being offered through the Community Education program of Polson School District.  Classes fill up fast, so be sure to register early. To register, please choose one of the following options:

    1) Fill out the downloadable form at the bottom of the page and mail or return to Polson High School.

    3) Please check the Polson School District Website , for updated schedules and Locations.  

    4) Classes will be held at Polson High School unless otherwise indicated.

    8-Week Session from Monday, January 29th – Friday, March 23rd


    Beginning Guitar

    Students will be introduced to guitar tuning and care, chording, strumming, reading notes and TAB (tablature), and an overall understanding of the guitar itself and how it works.

    Zumba Fitness

    Students will be doing mid to low impact dance fitness/exercise with a Latin flavor. Salsa, Merengue, Cha Cha, and some funky reggatone. No experience necessary. Bring comfortable workout attire, a water bottle, and let’s have some fitness fun.

    Wood Shop

    Students will have access to the shop and tools to work on projects of their choice.   Students are responsible for their own materials and plans.  Instructor will be available to assist students with plans, project construction, and safe operation of tools/equipment.

    AM Open Gym/Weight Room

    The gym floor and weight room will be open for morning exercises. On the gym floor you can play basketball, tennis (hitting practice), jog, and other cardio work. The weight room has free weights, dumbbells, circuit machines, exercise balls, jump ropes, elastic bands, exercise mat, exercise bicycle, and an elliptical machine. The gym and weight room will be supervised and assistance will be available. Basic instruction and work-out programs will be available. Drop by when you can, no need to sign up, Open Enrollment.

    Beginning Piano:

    Students will begin to develop skills in basic piano.  The course is designed for students with very minimal or no experience.  Bring a pair of headphones, all other materials provided.

    Stained Glass

    Students will learn the basics of stained glass techniques and create their own piece of art. No experience necessary.

    Joy of Clay

    Students will use hand-built and wheel thrown techniques to make a various vessels. No experience necessary.

    Everything Apple

    Do you have questions about your iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac laptop or Mac computer? This could be a class for you. In this series of four classes we will cover basic operations, iCloud, Photos, iTunes, App Store, etc., etc. anything related to these devices. The classes will be tailored to the attending audience and their needs.

    Do you have something to sell? A product, craft, a blog or even yourself? Let me help you set it up. Get yourself out there. Get yourself noticed. In this series of four classes we will cover social media, building websites, online market places and protecting yourself and your products or ideas while online. The classes will be tailored to the attending audience and their needs.
